This was a question posed to me months ago. 

If you don’t know, a hedge fund is a corporation created specifically for the purpose of pooling capital from multiple investors

It usually operates with a full-time team of analysts and managers whose sole focus is identifying and executing opportunities that most investors never see or have access to

Every decision, every analysis, every movement of capital is driven by professional managers who eat, sleep, and breathe that particular fund.

People and institutions who invest in hedge funds are seeking higher returns than they can find in the traditional markets

This comes with a slightly higher risk but with a potential for much greater returns. 

Part of the reason hedge funds are able to beat the market compared to other structures is that hedge funds are much more strategic… 

They tend to focus on a specialty, something they know inside and out so they are able to place positions the general public wouldn't know about or have access to. 

The biggest problem with a hedge fund is getting access to one. 

There are certain requirements needed in order to gain access and most people just don’t meet them.

In almost all cases, there’s a minimum investment that’s out of reach

This is generally in the hundreds of thousands or more, or into the millions

But all of this is just wishful thinking because the truth is that virtually all hedge funds don’t allow individual retail investors at all… for any reason 

This is because they stick to family offices and institutions who will make very large investments into the fund, often in the multiple millions

So it’s quite interesting when a hedge fund makes a decision to allow in individual investors

That’s why I think it’s unprecedented that they made the decision to allow regular investors like us to participate… 

But what’s really interesting to me is why they are allowing us in…
